Out of comfort zone

Yesterday I decided that Elena and I had to start doing more things out of mine and also her comfort zone. She is 2, so outings do not always go well - she can scream on public transport much to the dismay of other passengers, she can grizzle in the pushchair and refuse to eat when we are out, scream loudly when she is tired and refuse to give in - actually the list is endless!!!

So I decided as a 'Mummy' treat that we should go on 1 bus and 1 train (30 minute journey) to Westfield Stratford for some retail therapy.

I told the hubby that this was my plan and he agreed it was worth a shot!

So after dropping Amber off at pre-school, we walked to the bus stop, I had thought of cancelling the trip as it was raining - but no I decided nothing was ever going to change if I carried on just going home and doing nothing!!
First battle was the raincover - Elena was not impressed at all, managed to save the day with a 'Baba Pink' toy!!
So got on the bus, managed to shove the pushchair into the small gap next to another pushchair. THEN the wailing starts, I decided on the short and sweet response - 'Elena we are only on here for 5 minutes!!' She screamed all the way to our stop!
Into the train station and onto the Overground train - was hoping for a seat so Elena could get out of the pushchair - no seats - oh dear and so round two of the screaming starts!!! Two business men felt sorry for me and commented 'don't worry i have been there!!!'

But we got to Westfield and Elena was happy, Mummy was happy as she hadn't lost her cool and didn't feel stressed!
Wandered about and went into John Lewis, bought the silicone bun cases I wanted - good price!! Still a happy toddler and happy mummy!!
Went into Next and managed to pick a pair of jeans and top for me, Elena was happy with her new Peppa Pig top and picked up a new top for Amber. Plus a little present for the impending arrival of best friends baby.

Still going all okay!!!

Into H&M - nothing to buy in there!!

Mummy starts to enjoy herself!!

Into Primark - no pyjamas to be liked in here!!

Elena happy now with a packet of pom bear crisps!!

Into Victoria Secrets - lovely pyjamas and only £20 each - so two pairs purchased - Realised then I had spent quite a lot but made me feel better that Next things were bought on a gift card and MIL had given me £20 for Christmas - so thats one pair of pyjamas covered!

Checked out the food hall and made a mental note that chips could bought for Elena when it was lunch time.

Then I did something I never do - I let Elena out of the pram!! So off we trot - into River Island, looking at bags as Hubby had nearly bought me a new bag for my birthday. Nice bags but to be honest I still like my normal casual one and finally have started using the gorgeous designer one I got Xmas 2011 so think thats the other pair of pyjamas offset if i don't buy a bag for my birthday!!

We walked around for 30 minutes and then went for lunch. I had the 'Tossed' signature salad wrap and Elena had her chips, all good, she ate a good amount but the best thing that happened was I was able to eat my lunch with no hassle.

So back into the pram with the bribe of Ritz biscuits!!

Onto overground - all good - enough seats for us to sit down.

A small tantrum occured when Elena was put in the pram but then as we walked home instead of getting the bus she fell asleep and I managed to get home and have a cuppa and start this blog!!

So I survived the first outing for me and Elena of 2013.

So where is next....................
