Out of your comfort zone

It has been a busy few weeks since my last post. The children have struggled to get to grips with the work we are doing. But we are finally making progress. Slowly we are getting into a rhythm. But the rhythm is easily disrupted, just one worksheet not liked means that we have a terrible day. I am having to get Miss A to go back to basics on maths as she is struggling with work she learnt last year. She is a superstar at English so finds that good fun, and we had a fantastic lesson about English Grammar. But we are back on Maths this afternoon and it is hard work for her. Miss E is accepting her work and is enjoying most of her work. However, I am struggling to know how much she should be able to actually write herself. Some days are amazing and others are hard, or we go from amazing to hard in 5 minutes! We have made a decision to buy a house sooner rather than later, the children are needing some stability in their lives. We also feel that Miss E would probably not remem...

So it is back to school tomorrow. Mama's school! So we have no new shoes, no new school bags, no packed lunches, no homework to look forward to. We have decided to start on the bank holiday Monday as we have no plans so it is a good day as any. I have made my plan! But I wonder how Miss E aged 5 will deal with it, maybe the same way she dealt with being shuffled upstairs to bed at 7.30pm. With utter contempt and anger. I reminded her that we were going to Mama's school tomorrow so we had to be in bed at a normal time! The problem is, they have now been off school in holiday mode for 2 months, so a normal bedtime means nothing to her. Miss A aged 7, will be an angel as she loves to do academic work and I think she will thrive at being home schooled. (But this may not happen!!) Miss E will not like having to do Maths and English at home, I am hoping I can make it fun. So wish me luck. School starts around 9ish, but no later than 9.45am!

We have had a great week this week. Last week of our holidays, although we are not starting back to school in a traditional sense.  We drove to Wales to visit a good friend, who was excited and envious of my plans. We had great fun for 3 nights and 2 days. She has a 7 year old, a 2 and 1/2 year old and a 3 month old. The kids all hung out in their Welsh paradise. She lives in the middle of nowhere! They participated in outside play - one activity involved a childs trolley and several soft toys and a hill! There was a great outside play fort that overlooked the countryside and the weather was great for the two days we were there. There was also a lot of indoor gaming activity, my girls enjoyed this but also found they needed to get outside more than my friends child. The great thing of having a fantastic friendship, is you can understand each others different parenting techniques but you don't try and change it. A rather serious post, I am hoping that not all of the rest of the posts will be. But it is setting the scene that is the current state of affairs. We decided back in May to sell our family house and move back to Hull our home town. It was a hard decision as Amber had been promised this would be our last move - she was in her 3rd primary school at aged 7. But here we are again, doing something a little bit out of our comfort zone. 1, Sell up. 2. Move to Hull and stay at my husband's brothers house - squeeze into 2 bedrooms from a 4 bedroom house. 3. Home school until we bought another house. 4. Travel in 2017 to new places. So we have accomplished #1 and #2. #3 is well on its way, I spent 8 hours downloading resources from www.twinkl.co.uk ready for our big start next week. It has all been a bit daunting but I am hopeful that the next year will bring great fun, laughs and probably many stresses. Join me on the journey.......................
